Cacao Ceremony – What is it, what are the benefits and what to expect?

Some of you have reached out to ask me about my Cacao Ceremony & Sound Bath’s offerings as ceremonial cacao is new to you. Below is a brief overview of the physical, emotional & spiritual benefits of ceremonial cacao, as well as what to expect from my events.

Benefits of Ceremonial Grade Cacao:

❤️    20 x more antioxidants than blueberries

🍫    Promotes heart and brain health

❤️    Mood boosting amino acids that stimulate serotonin

🍫    Packed with vitamins & minerals including A, Bs, C & D!

❤️    Heart opening with deeper connections to ourselves, others, and life

What is Ceremonial Cacao:

Ceremonial grade cacao, simply put, is a very natural, luxurious form of chocolate with blissful, mood-enhancing chemicals. Natural because there is very minimal processing involved. Nothing added or taken away.

Typical shop bought chocolate or cocoa has significant amounts of refined sugar and roasting, which diminishes the health and integrity of the cacao. Ceremonial grade is usually fermented in the sun, with minimal processing and nothing added!

What are Cacao’s emotional and spiritual benefits:

Ceremonial Grade Cacao contains many health and spiritual benefits and has been enjoyed and used ceremonially for thousands of years within ancient cultures such as Mayan & Olmec in Mesoamerica.

She is powerful plant teacher as she facilitates a deeper connection to ourself, loved ones and the natural world. She gently yet firmly helps us face what no longer serves us. As with many plant medicines, you get what you need.

Of course, these lessons and benefits are enhanced with regular use. Drinking together in community is especially supportive. (I run monthly cacao ceremonies in Lewes & Forest Row, East Sussex)

Of late, I tend to experience the spirit of cacao as comforting and deeply relaxing, which helps me to release blocked or challenging emotions. She continues to be a significant support to me as I simultaneously navigate my mother’s Alzheimer’s and my menopause journey.  The B Vitamins and iron in cacao really supportive during midlife.

Marc (my husband) and I regularly drink cacao in nature together. It’s proving to be a very beautiful way for us to connect and deepen our relationship. Marc is a massive dark chocolate fan, so he’s been easy to convert ha ha!

What to expect from my Cacao Ceremony and Sound Bath:

I currently hold 90 minute sessions – after 40 mins for the cacao ceremony itself, you’ll be invited to lie down and get cosy for a receive a relaxing sound bath.

The space is cleansed with essential oil room mist and sound before your arrival. I create a welcoming space with gentle music.

You will be warmly greeted and receive your (optional) personal vibrational cleanse with either tuning forks or gentle rattle. You’ll then be invited to choose oracle cards if you wish.

I open the space with gentle drumming whilst acknowledging the directions. You are invited to set an intention, which can be as simple as being present, establishing or deepening your connection with the spirit of cacao, reinforcing an existing intention or manifestation you are currently living into.

I then serve the delicious warm cacao, as we listen to beautiful, hand-picked music. The ingredients are ceremonial grade cacao, organic gluten free oat milk and organic maple syrup, nothing more.

You will be guided in a meditation to connect with this beautiful elixir via your heart and senses as we take our first sip together – then we will all drink at our own spacious pace. You are invited and welcome to share what arises from your cacao encounter or keep it to yourself to perhaps to journal about later.

You will then be invited to snuggle up and get cosy to receive the soothing sounds of a relaxing sound bath, which will facilitate in deeper connection and integration.

There are some contra-indications, which you can read here to reassure yourself that it is right for you at this time.

If you love good quality chocolate, would like to develop a heart-centred practice or simply wish to try and this ancient heart-opening ceremony, this is for you! 🍫☕️
