What Is Sound Healing?

Sound healing is the use of intentional frequencies and vibration to promote self-healing within the body, mind and soul.

The universe is an interconnected web of vibrations. Our ancient ancestors, including the Ancient Egyptians, used sound for healing and many historic temples around the world are attuned to specific frequencies.

Resonant sound promotes a sense of wellbeing and self-healing; facilitating the body to release stuck and dense energies and entraining the mind and body back into balance and calm.

Sound immersion impacts us holistically as the vibrations are received audibly as well as a deep physical and even cellular level.

No wonder sound and music can have such a powerful impact upon our emotions, mood and sense of wellbeing. Have you ever been deeply touched, moved to tears by a piece of music?

In today’s busy, noisy and often stressful environments, taking time for ourselves is of paramount importance, because of course we are worth it and we deserve it. Plus it’s not possible to pour from an empty cup, at least not sustainably.

““Everything is energy and that’s all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy. This is physics””

— DARRYL ANKA

Disease or dis-ease is ultimately caused by dis-harmony withing our bodies, minds, and subtle energy systems. As the human body is predominantly energy, with very little physical matter, we respond extremely well to harmonious frequencies. Sound & vibration entrain the body and brain into balance and wellness.

Benefits Of Sound Baths

We are either in harmony or disharmony, dependent upon our vibrational state. Resonant and melodious frequencies have a powerful effect on our physical, mental, and emotional health.

Sound healing reduces stress, anxiety, and promotes relaxation. It soothes the nervous system and calms the mind into more relaxed alpha and theta frequencies. Theta is akin to the earth’s frequency or the vibration of nature.

Harmonious tones enhance our creative expression, improve our cognitive function and deepen heart connection.

Therapeutic sound enhances restorative rest, releases tension, aches and pains and improves sleep. All of these benefits are conducive to promoting self-healing.

Like a musical instrument we benefit from a “tune up”! High vibrational sounds entrain our minds and bodies back to wellness and balance.  When we are in-tune, in flow and calmer, we feel better, healthier and are more pleasant to be around!

People often attend their first sound bath out of curiosity and a desire to try something new. Many return due to the effects and because they find it enjoyable too!

In this often frantic and unpredictable world, it can feel comforting and grounding to arrive at an event that has no other expectations than for you to lie down (or sit if preferred) and receive.

You don’t have to do anything at all. So, following a busy day, this can be just the ticket!

If this calls you, I look forward to welcoming you at one of my events.

My Lifelong Journey With Sound

My love for sound and singing began as a baby. My mum told me that I used to rock and hum Amazing Grace in my pram, unprompted and without music. To this day, this song holds a very deep place in my heart.

My first experience of a sound bath was by accident. I attended an event in 2015 and following a mediation we received a gong bath. This experience had a life changing impact.

I remember telling the Sound Healer who played that gong, that I felt as if I’d been transported to the depths of the ocean and into the hights of the cosmos simultaneously! To which she replied – “You have!”

I attended sound baths regularly after this, and completed my sound healing training with the same person who played the gong that evening, Cherub Sanson and the fabulous Tim Wheater. Tim is my inspiration for learning to play the flute, a journey of which will no doubt continue throughout my lifetime.

My sound journey(!) continues to grow. I vocally tone during my sound baths. I’ve birthed my own shamanic drum, have made various rattles and recently made a Queen Helmet Conch Horn from a shell I picked up in a second-hand shop! (Curious – tap here for IG post)

My experience with sound healing continues to take me to depths of exploration and self-discovery, which includes continued love for Sound Focused Pilgrimages, including Ancient Egypt and Glastonbury. I have plans for Malta and other locations!

I especially feel called to sing and vocal tone in sacred temples and locations including The Kings Chamber at the Great Pyramid, The White Spring at Glastonbury, Wells Cathedral, and The Treasury of Atreus in Greece (impromptu and divine)

I hope that this gives you a flavour for who I am as a Sound Healer. Please reach out - I’d LOVE to hear from you
